What is Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) is an ancient system of health care that dates back more than 2000 years. Although ancient in it's origin, Chinese Herbal Medicine or Internal Medicine as it known in Chinese, has continued to develop through out the centuries as the causes of illness that afflict mankind have evolved and has been show effective in the treatment of recent SARS outbreak. The effectiveness of Chinese Herbal Medicine in treating SARS has been recognised by the World Health Organisation.

Chinese Herbal Medicine allows you to provide your patients with internal herbal medicine that are specifically tailored to their illness and are more appropriate for the treatment of serious conditions that ready made Patent herbal formulas.

 

What's in the Chinese Herbal Medicine course

Our course covers all aspects of the safe and effective use of the most common clinically used herbs including:

• Introduction to Herbology - Concepts, theory, collection and preparation of herbs
• Herbal Properties - Properties, indications, functions and contraindications of 180 herbs
  
• Herbal Combination - Principals for combining herbs, incompatible herbs.
  
• Established Formulas - Examination of commonly used formulas
  
• Prescribing a formula - Adapting established formulas and devising formulas
  
• Clinical Application - Use of herbal formulas in clinical practice

Qualification Attained
The programme leads to the award of Chinese Herbal Medicine Diploma by the College of Oriental Body Balance. Successful candidates of the College are eligible for full membership of the British Register of Complementary Practitioners.
